Aelia Drusilla

Drusilla is a daughter of gens Aelia. Her father and brother died in a military disaster when she was fifteen, leaving her senior heir to the family's wealth, and she divorced her husband after bearing her third child. Drusilla herself is a member of the equestrian order, though only because she refuses to divest herself of her many trade, banking and tax assets, and is one of the richest women in Rome through careful investment and purchase of lucrative offices for her clients. While her sex bars her from formal political office or military service, she is known to have at least one senator as a client, and to be skilled at "advising" the Senate on various matters of importance.

Having won the jus trium liberorum, Drusilla has not remarried and has refused all offers of courtship; speculation abounds about her sex life, but if she has one, she keeps it strictly private. Rumors also suggest that she is part of a mystery cult of some sort, but the details are unknown. She is known to have an interest in the arena and the chariot races, and has hired and purchased many current and former gladiators for bodyguard duty, especially female gladiators; some say she has had them train her in the gladius. She was politically amicable with the former Emperor.
