Zacharius

The Zollier Family

The Zollier family are new money in Hillsfar, having been in the 'first rank' of families for only a single generation. Their patriarch, Markus Zollier was a Ranger who made a name for stalking and destroying raiding parties of the Black Moon Brotherhood on both land and sea and who, upon his retirement married Isabella Zollier (ne Messana), a druid with whom he had a long partnership before bringing their family to Hillsfar.

Initially, making loans to former adventurers of their acquaintance, the Zollier family expanded into a moneylending venture of considerable scope and, although decried as 'new' money were admitted to the council in 1356 in the wake of the Dragonflight, just in time for Maalthiir to overthrow that merchant council in favour of his own dictatorship.

From the first, rumours of underhanded dealing have followed the Zollier clan, with more than one suggestion being made that they retain ties to pirate forces they allied with during their campaign against the Black Moon or with Gnollish raiders in the forest, but nothing has ever been proven.

Zacharius Zollier

Zacharius Zollier meanwhile, is the eldest son of Markus and Isabella and seems determined to live up to the dubious reputation of his house, having well established himself as a libertine and rake, quick with his tongue and his sword if not necessarily much given to thought.

Physically he's a tall, lean young man who grew up under the watchful eye of parents who considered a twenty-mile run in the woods to be 'character building' rather than 'unspeakable torture' and so unusually for the youthful-and-rich set he's athletic and well-built but ever so slightly unsettling - rather after the fashion of an opium poet who's taken up a red meat diet. He's dark haired with lightly tanned skin, generally has a measure of stubble about him but is otherwise well-groomed and is rarely ever less than exquisitely dressed, with just enough of an air of dissipation about him to suggest that at some point in the recent past he wasn't, and it was in the company of someone you know.
