Armat Aelendil

Guard perfectly, attentively, and with forethought; be ever vigilant. Guard what you are ordered to guard, including that on which your charge depends.
-Creed of the Helmite faith.

Armat Aelendil is a veteran city guard whose faith in Helm became so strong that he received the divine blessing of He Who Is Ever Watchful, granting him exceptional perceptive ability. He is a man committed to the cause of protecting order and civilization, be it from criminals, monsters or the city's enemies. As expected of a Watcher, he is a very serious man who puts duty before personal needs while he upholds the law. In accordance with Helm's example he is forgiving of the minor transgressions of children but otherwise will always act professionally in accordance with his duties.

Appearance:

The clergy of Helm wears heavy armor and helmets to spiritually share the burden of protection of the Eternal Watcher. Watcher Armat is no exception and while his armor is modest (he still aspires to wear full plate one day), it is decorated in various places with the Vigilant Eye. Added to that is the Watchman's sash, marking him a member of the city guard.

Armat's half-elven blood grants him long life. He has patrolled the streets for as long as many members of the younger races can remember while he only seems to be approaching middle age. A lifetime of wearing armor has left him lean and muscular. His face shows the years of service in hard lines that rarely bend to smile.

Demeanor:
Like all Watchers, Armat is a serious and austere man. His duty to protection of civilization, law and order comes only second to his absolute adherence to the dogma of Helm's church. At his rank, it is not his place to interpret the dictates of his faith, only execute them. And while this produces a serious man of unbendable conviction, Armat is also considered reliable and honest. He will provide shelter to all who ask it, be it victim or accused.
