Standing at a height of 5'3", Melinoë is a young archaeologist with attractive aquiline features and curly black hair woven with purple beads and usually done up in a messy bun.  Her tapered ears and keen almond eyes mark her as an elf, but the ashen complexion, icy blue irises and unnaturally deep of shadows on her body and clothing speak to an uncommon elven lineage.  She usually dresses in outdated outdoorswoman garb, including flowy and ruffled blouses, high-waisted long skirts, and an oddly extravagant wide-brimmed sun hat.  Despite her best efforts, her heavy garb never quite manages to hide a shapely figure and a generous bust.  Around her neck hangs a round silver pendant engraved with the holy symbol of Mystra, an eight-pointed star cut through with a thin circle.  She often has a small hooded lantern hovering in her vicinity, glowing with a magical blue light.

Nothing excites Melinoë more than an interesting mystery or puzzle, and she tends to focus on problems with a single-minded intent until a solution can be found.  A studious eccentricity and disregard of common social mores often cause her interpersonal difficulties, but many find a peculiar charm in her cheerful oddness.  She speaks in a light but distinctive accent of the northern nation of Laum.  Mel knows more about ancient culture than modern culture, and will expound at length on obscure trivia about nature and bygone ages to anyone who will listen.
