Few in Avistan have any true knowledge of what goes on among the massive trees, populated by ancient megafauna extinct in the rest of the world, that cover the entire northwest of the Garund continent, and fewer still are those who survive attempts to explore and chart the unknown interior.With sailing around the permanent hurricane known as Eye of Abendego and through the pirate-infested islands of the Shackles the only way to reach these lands, the former Chelaxian colony of Sargava being the only safe port while the native of nearby Mzali slaughter any visitors on sight, and the ruthless Gorilla King Ruthazek crushing everybody who attempts to establish any sort of kingdom that would challenge his rulership of the jungles, the Mwangi Expanse is a land of unmatched peril. Yet, many tales are told of ancient ruins, remains of the times when the Azlanti empire had made allies of the locals and created prosperous kingdoms, each one potentially teeming with riches and knowledge that could make their finder rich and famous beyond one's wildest dream.
