Six months ago the world was rocked by what the media calls "The First Terrorist Attack to use Chemical Weapons on American Soil" -- But only the normies are buying that crap! Those In the Know know what really happened that night. It wasn't terrorists that knocked down buildings and killed hundreds of thousands in Chicago, that was the mad goddess Ethniu wielding a supernatural WMD. Lucky for the rest of the planet, the Wizard of Chicago stepped up and managed to kick her teeth in.
Despite the authorities scrambling to get a story in place, mass hallucinations caused by a chemical agent called HBGB, the world woke up to a much scarier reality. Those in the know could see through the BS and word travels quickly in supernatural circles. But even the normies know something's off. People are scared, it may take the form of protests, civil disobedience, and extremist rhetoric but it all boils down to the same thing... Fear.
It's not just John and Jane nobody who are scared either. A psychotic titan leveled half of America's 3rd largest city. Every agency with an acronym has descended on Chicago and are now starting to look outward. On top of it all, the Accords were broken, and though they were victorious in the end the Powers That Be cannot be everywhere. They aren't as all-powerful as everyone once believed.
The balance of the mundane and supernatural worlds is sitting on a powder keg and no one knows what might set it off.
